Rough and Ready Fire Caused by Electrical Short

A fire in rough and ready Saturday night drew response from three engines and a water tender.  Fire units were dispatched around 9:45p.m.  for a reported vegetation fire with a barn involved in the 13-thousand block of Rough and Ready Highway.. First arriving units found an out-building fully involved with 20×20 area of grass also burning. Crews were able to quickly bring the fire under control with no damage to the residence. Grass Valley Fire and Cal Fire responded and Crews remained at scene approximately one hour with mop up. There were no injuries. The cause was determined to be an electrical short in a well pump.
