Rough and Ready Man Killed in I80 Crash

More information has been released involving a Rough and Ready man involved in a deadly chase with the CHP on Interstate 80. Nevada County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Coroner Richard Fevinger says the CHP chased 55 year old William Kenneth Orr of Rough and Ready at speeds reaching one hundred miles an hour. Sergeant Fevinger says as Orr approached Truckee he took an off ramp and then proceeded back west bound on 80. As Orr approached a California Conservation Corps work crew on the highway he lost control of his car.

One of the injured people was flown by helicopter for treatment to a Reno hospital. A second injured person was taken to a Truckee hospital. William Orr was ejected from the car and died at the scene. Sergeant Fevinger said a quantity of marijuana was found in the trunk of Orr’s car.
