Running To Benefit The Community

Saturday morning was busy with events that benefit the local communities. One event was the Twin Cities Church, Run for the Community. The event is a 5 and 10 K Run or walk that winds through the streets and trails along Ridge Road west of Grass Valley.  Twin Cities Pastor and Event Coordinator John Fairchild says the event raises money for a number of activities the church provides to those in need.

Besides the church, another race sponsor was Trkac Running Store. Mark Ericson and his wife have teamed up with Sierra Trailblazers Running Club to develop Running Stronger Together, a free community-based running program.

The running team has about 40 members ranging in age from 11 to 80 and of all abilities.

Saturday’s Run for The Community, as in the past, had approximately 250 participants and raised over 3000 dollars to go towards the community support. The annual Run for the Community is the third event in the 2014 Gold Country Grand Prix Running Series.
