Expect to see a lot of little goblins and witches and other children in costume in downtown Grass Valley tomorrow. As has become tradition, merchants will open their doors to the youngsters to come in and do some trick-or-treating. Marissa Hernandez with the Downtown Business Association says the event has primarily been designed for the kids who aren’t in school yet…
And, Hernandez says, there’s more than just candy…
There will also be some older kids there helping out. The Nevada Union High School athletic department is doing their annual walk-a-thon. They will walk from the high school to downtown to raise money for sports programs. Principal Kelly Rhoden says last year, the entire school participated, but that didn’t work out as well…
The Center for the Arts will be giving away books, and even the Gold Miners Inn, which is a little away from the central downtown area, will also be handing out treats. Main and Mill Streets will both be closed off to auto traffic to make the event safer. ‘Safe Trick or Treat’ is from 10am to 1pm.
