Salvation Army Battles ‘Fake News’

While the local Salvation Army chapter is not getting as much money from their kettle drive this year as in the past, they are also trying to overcome what is becoming a negative reputation. Lieutenant Sid Salcido with the Grass Valley Salvation Army says they’ve been a victim of fake news…

Because the Salvation Army is a church, they have been subject to reports both in mainstream media and social media, that homosexuality is considered unacceptable behavior. There have also been reports that the Salvation Army lobbies against Planned Parenthood, which Salcido denies. Salcido says the Salvation Army is apolitical, and that their mission statement is to “help all that are in need without discrimination.”
