Imagine you’re a young family that stands helplessly at the edge of your driveway as firefighters battle a blaze that has engulfed your home. You’re alive but heartsick as you watch your possessions go up in flames. Now Nevada County firefighters will be able to offer some help. The Save Cards are funded by the California Fire foundation through private donations. Deputy Chief Funk says it’s not just for fires.
Nevada County Consolidated is the lead agency but all the fire departments in the JOA will be a part of the program.
The Save Card can help disaster victims through the most difficult part of the recovery process, that first 24 hours, and maybe feel a little less lost and alone.
