Organizers trying to save the Bridgeport Covered Bridge will be getting an update for the new year. Doug Moon is Chair of the ‘Save Our Bridge Campaign Committee’ and says his group will be getting a progress report from the state Department of Parks and Recreation (on Monday)…
They have over a million dollars in funding from Proposition 84, which Moon says should cover the price of the assessment, a long extensive permitting process, and the first part of construction, but with costs rising, they may need to come up with more money. The update will be presented at the committee’s monthly meeting…
It is open to the public. The meeting is at 2pm. The bridge, which was built in 1862, is the longest single span wooden covered bridge remaining in the world.
