Schools Continue to Win With Governor’s Budget Proposal

California Schools continue to be big winners in Governor Jerry Brown’s proposed budget for fiscal year 2014-2015. The Governor announced the new budget Thursday morning. In total, schools will receive 10 billion dollars of new funds for the year. According to a Department of Finance Education Analyst, the funds will payback money owed to districts while also increasing per pupil allocations.

Money received as a result of deferral payoffs can be used at a district’s discretion.
On top of the deferral payments, the amount of money allotted for each student is also going to increase.
Nevada County School Districts have been fiscally challenged by the State withholding funds the past several years.
