Search and rescue teams are trying to locate a 65 year old man from San Jose. Sheriff Keith Royal says teams are searching in the area Owl Creek Road and the Yuba River. Walter Steever was reported as missing by his wife on Monday, afternoon. He was gold mining in the area off Jones Bar Road. Steever was last heard from on the twenty-third. The Sheriff  says over forty people are currently working to locate the missing man.

The Sheriff says there is no known medical problems or urgency in taking any type of medication. He says the concern is for Steever’s age and the rugged country he was mining. Steever is described as having a white beard, six feet tall and a hundred and eighty-five pounds. Anyone who may have sighted the missing man is asked to call the Sheriff at 265-7880.
