It appears to be a seasonal drop for Nevada County’s unemployment rate. It dropped three-tenths of a point, from July to August, to 5-point-2 percent. That’s also over a-point better than a year ago. Luis Alejo, with the Employment Development Department, says the rate typically climbs in June and July before coming down again, with a spike in the number of jobs in the Educational sector…
But Alejo says the biggest increase this time of year is normally in the Goods Producing, Construction, and Manufacturing sectors…
Alejo also says the job growth in the Mining, Logging, and Construction Sector is double the five-year average, or 60. It’s also double for the Manufacturing Sector, or 20. Nevada County still has the 15th lowest jobless rate among the 58 counties.
