A major step has been taken toward building the first Senior Center in Western Nevada County in over a decade. Gold Country Senior Services Executive Director Janeth Maroletti says they’ve recently completed escrow on the old Summer Thyme’s Bakery and Deli site on Colfax Avenue. But she says the road to the Grand Opening will still require the community coming together in a variety of ways…
Donations are also encouraged. Maroletti says the site will allow a significant expansion of services, especially meals, thanks to a huge kitchen for their Meals on Wheels program…
Maroletti says food insecurity remains the number one need for low-income, homeless, and frail seniors. She says they’ve already had to triple the number of meals they provide this year. She says social activities seniors are clamoring for include bingo. She also wants to get more senior local artists involved.
