Senior Vouchers For Farmers Markets

Gold Country Community Services Director Sandy Jacobson says a state program is making food vouchers available to local seniors for Farmers Markets.

Jacobson says the purpose behind the program is to allow more seniors to enjoy good fresh food. The coupon books are worth $20 and Jacobson says they can be used at the 5 farmers markets in the area that accept them.

Seniors can pick up the vouchers at the Gold Country Center located in the Senior Apartments at 841 Old Tunnel Road in Grass Valley. They are distributing the vouchers daily from 11a.m. to 1p.m.  and they are good Saturdays at the Grass Valley Farmers Market at the North Star House ;Tuesdays in Nevada City at the market on Ridge Road. Thursdays at the Penn Valley market; and starting in June at the Truckee Regional Park on Tuesdays and at the Grass Valley Downtown Markets beginning May 30th.
