California’s senior population is projected to nearly double over the next 15 years, according to a the Public Policy Institute. The director of the Gold Country Community Center in Grass Valley, Sandy Jacobson, says if that happens it will be a lot more difficult to keep up with services, that include home meal deliveries and firewood for the winter. But the Institute says as the number of seniors goes up sharply, so could the death rate. And that would further slow the overall population growth in California. The report says it’s also possible for a population decline.
