Community advocate Reinette Senum has been selected as the Nevada City community member of the year. Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, Cathy Whittlesey, says Reinette is all about Nevada City, so the Elza Kilroy Award fits her well.

Whittlesey says that Reinette has been involved with a number of issues effecting Nevada City including advocating for the homeless, supporting Farm-to-Table, and active participation in other events and causes.

Senum has also been involved in a some controversial efforts such as hanging lights over Commercial Street and other lighting efforts which have not always been well received by all members of the community; but Whittlesey says that is part of what makes Reinette a good choice.
