September is Emergency Preparedness Month

After just going through the Lowell Fire where many Nevada County residents had to evacuate their homes, you may have a good idea of what worked and what was lacking in your emergency preparedness plan. Nevada County Office of Emergency Services Director, Vic Ferrera says a good plan begins with a good kit.

Ferrera says county residents face more threats than just wildfire.

In the Number three spot is flooding, something Nevada County has not had to worry about that much during the drought. Whatever the threat it always pays to be prepared.

Ferrera encourages everyone in the county to sign up to get emergency notifications through the Code Red system.   If you have an A-T-and-T land line phone you area already connected, but for internet, or cell phones you will need to sign up on www.mynevadacounty.com   and search for Code Red.
