September is Hunger Awareness Month and for the Interfaith Food Ministry it is a time to get people informed and involved.

Van Son says the numbers of people who are food insecure in Nevada County is hovering around 13,000. She says the face of hunger is not what people might think.

Interfaith Food Ministries distributes food on Monday Wednesday and Friday between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Families come on one of those days and only every other week. Van Son says they would like to be able to do more than that, but that is about the maximum number of people they can currently support.

Interfaith Food Ministries will be asking the community to donate food during their Postal Workers food drive on September 22 and also to visit their website at www.interfaithfoodministry.org where people can sign up to make a financial contribution.
