Three more arrests, as part of the Placer County Sheriff’s Department’s online sex sting program. And one of the suspects is from Grass Valley. Lieutenant Troy Sander says the men were trying to have sex with 13 and 14-year-old girls. He says 32-year-old Samuel Thompson believed he was corresponding with a 13-year-old girl whom he was hoping to have relations with in Auburn…
26-year-old Matthew Klein and 36-year-old Chad Woodruff, both from Roseville were also arrested during a similar setup made by detectives in Auburn. Sander says it was also discovered that Thompson had been been convicted of a federal charge of possession of child pornography and was on pre-sentence release. He says education is also a major goal of the program, with the hope that parents become more tech-savvy and improve awareness of their child’s online activities…
Sander says it’s also important to note that in all of these arrests it was the perpetrators who reportedly made the first move, either by posting inappropriate ads, or by reaching out to underage persons through social applications. He says if parents become aware of an inappropriate conversation or relationship, contact authorities for assistance.
