Tomorrow (Tuesday) evening at Twin Cities Church the issue of sex trafficking will be brought to the forefront with a program presented by Courage Worldwide, a non profit that is building homes for women and children who are rescued from Sex Trafficking. Twin Cities Church Pastor, John Fairchild says they were made aware of the work Courage Worldwide is doing and are making their building available for the presentation. He says people are not even aware of what’s happening right in front of us.
Local residents got some idea of the problem when massage parlors in Auburn and one in Nevada City earlier this year were investigated for workers being forced into prostitution. Those business have since been shut down and two principals of the business await prosecution.
Fairchild says some of the girls are deceived and pulled in, others are drugged into it.
Courage Worldwide is hoping to build more safe houses for sex trafficking victims.
Law enforcement officials say the corridor between Sacramento and Tahoe, the I-80 corridor, and even interstate 5 going north, are some of the hot spots in the country for sex trafficking.
The Courage House information night gets underway at 6:30 tomorrow evening at Twin Cities Church student multi-purpose room. The Church is located at 11726 Rough and Ready Highway.
