Shakespeare for the Masses

It was humor at the speed of sound as The Complete Works of William Shakespeare- Abridged opened in Grass Valley this weekend. The laughter started with the opening scene when actor Trevor Wade reads Shakespeare’s “up-to-date” biography from his Internet-based SmartPhone.

From that point forward the laughs and action come flying at the audience as the trio of actors present all thirty-six of Shakespeare’s plays in ninety-seven  minutes.
Director Scott Ewing who has been working with the play since its inception and has taken the play to stages around the world says the play has something for everyone whether you are a Shakespeare fan or not.

Alvis Legate one of the show’s producers says it’s about making Shakespeare accessible to all audiences and removing some of the fear that makes this play special.

The Complete Works of Shakespeare- Abridged runs every Thursday -Sunday through October 14  Performances are at the Off-Center Stage in Grass Valley.
