Shattered Hopes The Day After Snow Storm

It was just before 6:00 AM on Wednesday, and students and teachers were lying in bed….radios tuned to KNCO… fingers crossed…hoping….waiting… for the phone to ring….That magical phone call that comes with an automated message saying that school is cancelled- IT’S A SNOW DAY!

Then it happened- at 6:00 AM the phone rang for over 10o0 kids and 100 teachers! They sprung out of bed eager to hear the message. But what hey heard shattered their dreams and crushed their hearts. The message was saying that school was OPEN!

Instantly Facebook messages began to fly through cyberspace. The question-comment, “Why call to tell me school was open? How could they do that to us! Cruel and Unusual Punishment!”

Then the voices of Tom Fitzsimmons and Rita Stevens confirmed the heartbreaking news… schools, in fact, are open and the buses are running. Thousands of students and teachers wept silently as they showered and dressed. Sniffles could be heard throughout the county as children and adults left their house and muttered to themselves as they slipped on frozen sidewalks.

“Why? Why call?” ….. Hmmmmm… Think before you call….
