Another effort is being made in the legislature to give back law to enforcement more powers to collect DNA evidence for certain felony crimes reclassified recently as misdemeanors. The change took place after voters approved Proposition 47 in 2014. The first Assembly bill failed in 2015. Nevada County Sheriff Keith Royal supports it.
