Sheriff Swears in Promotions and New Hires

It was another proud day at the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office yesterday as   swearing in ceremonies were conducted for six new hires and two promotions in the department.

Deputies Justin Martin and Mike Walsh were both promoted to Sergeant.  Sgt. Walsh was raised in Nevada county, started his Law Enforcement career at Grass Valley Police Department and after 4 years mad a lateral move to Nevada County Sheriff’s Office where he’s been for 9 years.  He has helped manage the departments mobile data computers in patrole cars, is a Defensive Tactics Instructor, Participated in the boat Patrol and OHV programs and is a certified SCUBA diver,   a certified Comuter voice Stress Analyzer and has received the Officer of the Year Award and the NCSO Bronze Star award.   His new Sgt Badge was pinned on by his dad who is a Grass Valley   Reserve Police Sergeant.

Sgt. Justin Martin has been with the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office for nine years after serving as an officer in the Oroville Police Department where he worked in Patrol and Narcotics. Sgt. Martin’s badge was pinned on by his wife of 10 years, Cameron.  In his spare time Sgt. Martin also coaches his daughter’s soccer team
