The Nevada County Sheriff”s Department has a new deputy, but this one is getting a special welcome….
Sheriff Shannan Moon announcing that they now have a canine deputy for the first time in more than two decades. His name is Ranger, he’s about three years old. He’s a German Shepard, but was raised in France, and responds to commands in French.

The dog is being paid for through a grant from the Rudiger Foundation, which was created when that dog joined the Nevada City Police Department in 2015. Foundation President Tina Vernon presented the Board with a big check for over 38-thousand dollars…
Rudiger is now with the Grass Valley Police Department, which also has another K-9 officer Kano.
