Sheriff’s Deputy Fires at Thief Suspect

Two men have been arrested and one is accused of trying to run down a Nevada County Sheriff’s Deputy with a stolen car. The Nevada County Sheriff’s Office says 24-year-old John Holley was trying to steal a vehicle from a towing service in Grass Valley early Saturday morning when an officer responded. Holly allegedly attempted to run the officer down, and the officer responded by firing at Holly. Holly immediately surrendered and was taken into custody, as was 22-year-old Gary Huffman, who was found nearby and determined to have assisted Holly in the theft. Both men are from Citrus Heights.
