A shoplifting suspect who returned to the scene of the original crime was apprehended by Grass Valley Police over the weekend.

On July 25th a loss prevention officer at K-Mart had witnesses 27 year old Robert Wharff take a cell phone out of a display case and put it in his pocket. But Wharff was able to get away. The same loss prevention officer saw Wharff enter K-Mart again on Friday evening and he called Grass Valley Police with a description. An officer was dispatched and spotted a man matching the description inside the Big 5 sporting goods store. in the shopping complex.

Robert Wharff was arrested on charges of resisting and obstructing a public officer, being under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance for sale as well as the original shoplifting charges.
