A police pursuit ended with an arrest after a father drove recklessly with his children in the vehicle while attempting to avoid law enforcement. Nevada City Police were called to assist the sheriff’s department after a call was received that a man who appeared to be under the influence had taken his children from a residence and sped away in a vehicle. Nevada City Police Sgt Paul Rohde says the call came in around 11:00 Friday night that the suspect was agitated.

The reporting party was concerned that the suspect had been drinking and was driving under the influence. Nevada City Police caught up with the vehicle on Ridge Road.

At that point the suspect was taken into custody for evading a police officer and child endangerment during the high speed chase. The driver was not charged with being under the influence as blood alcohol content was below the legal limit.
