Shotgun Threat in Auburn

Apartments were evacuated in Auburn after Police found a man armed with a shotgun in one apartment. Auburn Police Sergeant Victor Pecoraro says officers responded to  a Pine street apartment complex noon time Monday. The Sergeant says one of the residents had been threatened by 47 year old John Hurd, also a resident of the complex. The Sergeant says as ojohnhurdfficers approached Hurd’s apartment they heard the action of a shotgun being activated.

After repeated attempts to contact Hurd by telephone, officers used a patrol car PA system to contact the suspect. He came out side and started fighting with officers. He was taken into custody for criminal threats and resisting officers. A twelve gauge shotgun was recovered inside Hurd’s apartment.
