Silver Alert Assists with Locating Missing Elk Grove Man

The first missing person listed on the new Silver Alert has been located in Grass Valley. Police Captain Rex Marks says the new law was enacted on News Year Day. Authorities in Elk Grove reported 82 year old Robert Grappi as missing and suffering from dementia. Captain Marks says officers received information that a possible drunk driver was north bound on Highway 49 for Lime Kiln Road at three am. Officers found the car at the round about a short time later. Captain Marks says officers quickly determined the driver was not under the influence, but the missing man from Elk Grove.

Captain Marks says Grappi was checked by Sierra Nevada Ambulance personnel and released to a family member. The Captain says the new system help them notify a family member very quickly.
