Grass Valley Sinkhole Closes Lane of Highway 49

Grass Valley’s sinkhole in the southern part of the city is still causing concerns. While the hillside off of Freeman Lane near the Liberty Motors parking lot has been tarped off to prevent further erosion, motorists along Highway 49 have started to notice a depression in the southbound right-hand lane, where the culvert goes under the freeway. Highway Patrol Officer Greg Tassone says that lane is closed today, and now the worry is the number one lane, and the rest of the freeway…

Tassone says the C-H-P and CalTrans are discussing contingency plans if the situation gets worse, but right now it’s still too early to tell…

The sinkhole originally opened two weeks today (Wednesday). The latest damage estimates were over one-point-two million dollars.

It Should Be Closed...
The Entire Hwy.49 is Going to Have to Shut Down, in Both Directions...
If WE Don't Close Hwy.49 for Needed Collapse Repair, the Entire Population Driving on This Hwy. is Subjected to Possibly Falling Into A Sink-Hole that IS Running Under It...
