Sinkhole Ready for Next Storms

It takes a lot of plastic to cover a hillside with a massive sinkhole, but Grass Valley Public Works Director Tim Kiser says the area of that sinkhole off of Freeman Lane in Grass Valley is ready for this next series of storms…

With that site now secure, that frees up crews to focus on any other problems that might happen during the coming days with stormy weather around for the next week or so. Kiser says, though, they will still be keeping a close eye on the sinkhole and the culvert below it…

That should be next week after the weather dries up. It could be months before they can attempt to fill in the hole. Kiser says the plastic tarp they used comes in 40-by-one hundred rolls, and they used an estimated 40 of those to secure the site.
