Access to South Yuba River State Park is expected to be much more limited at least through mid-week. Superintendent Matt Green says that’s because of a landslide that’s inundated most of the parking lot. That’s also closed the old 49er bridge between Nevada City and North San Juan. He says the park is not expected to close, and Malakoff Diggins and Empire Mine State Parks should also stay open, despite more stormy weather through Wednesday…
Green says it’s won’t be known when the parking lot can be reopened, until after the latest systems move through and the slide can be more properly evaluated. He says you can’t really close the South Yuba park…
But Green says parking is now very limited to only more-distant portions off Highway 49 and citations have already been issued to those who parking in non-designated spots.
