Slipout Repairs Continue In Nevada County

While all the mudslides on Highway 49 between Nevada City and Sierraville, from the winter storms, were cleared up within a month of their occurrence, work continues on slipouts in Nevada County near the South Fork Yuba River Bridge. Whitmore says it’s hoped the second lane will be reconstructed and reopened by mid-to-late June. Two other smaller slipouts should also be repaired around that same time frame in the Depot Hill area of Sierra County. The Nevada County project has cost at least $6 to $7 million. In the meantime, signalized one-way traffic controls remain in effect 24 hours a day.
