Slipouts, Trees Affecting County Roads

It’s another hectic day for Nevada County road crews, with most of the activity today in the North San Juan area. Highway 49 is closed from two-and-a-half miles north of Nevada City to about 11 miles north of Nevada City due to what they are calling “slip-outs”. Part of the roadway has actually given way, making the highway undriveable. That means motorists need to use alternate routes on county roads, and Principal Civil Engineer Joshua Pack says those detours have had problems…

There also continue to be problems in the eastern part of the county, particularly Donner Pass Road. Pack advises that you don’t drive unless you have to. You can also report any problems to the county Public Works Department at 265-1411.
