Smoke in County NOT from Local Fires

A blanket of smoke is covering Western Nevada County today, but it is not from a local fire. Northern Sierra Air Quality District spokesperson Joe Fish says the wind patterns over the state are blowing the smoke our way from fires burning in the Lassen, Klamath, and Shasta Trinity National Forests to the north and east of us.

The smoke has been heavy at times and Fish says places that you would expect to be getting the smoke, aren’t .

But, again, as of midday Tuesday August 5th,  no fires are reported   in Nevada County.
