Snow Closes Local Schools, Heavy Rain Coming

Snow has closed most of the schools in Grass Valley and Nevada City today. The Nevada Joint Union High School District, Grass Valley, and Nevada City districts all had classes canceled because of the white stuff. Penn Valley didn’t get any snow–their schools were open. This storm brought a few inches to Grass Valley and Nevada City, and several more to places like Chicago Park and Cascade Shores. Because of the expected rain, the National Weather Service has issued a flood watch to start this evening through Thursday morning. A winter weather advisory is in effect through 4pm today, and there is also a wind advisory from 4pm to midnight tonight.
