Snowpack At Peak Rainfall Near Record

What’s traditionally considered the most critical snowpack survey of the season has been conducted. And it shows the deepest levels of the season. That’s 147% of average for the Northern Sierra, 175% for the central and southern ranges, and 164% statewide. Meanwhile, Oroville Dam is at 99% of average, with Shasta Dam at 109%. Carlson says rainfall is at 201% of average in the North State and we’re very close to breaking the all-time record, set in 1983. Although the state is still under a drought emergency, he indicates that might change soon…

Carlson also says California is now subjected to more weather extremes than any other state, due to climate change.
