Snowpack Drops For Nevada Irrigation District

With a drastic drop in precipitation in February, the health of the snowpack has suffered. The latest survey shows it at 94-percent of average for the Nevada Irrigation District. The average water content for the district’s five mountain snow courses is around 26 inches, with the historical average at 28 inches. In its news release, NID says February is normally one of the year’s wettest months, but precipitation this year has measured just 2-point-8 inches, which is just 26-percent of average. The district has one more snow survey, in April, which is generally regarded as the best indicator of water supplies.
