Nevada City is gearing up for this summer’s Soap Box Derby. The registration for the third annual event is Saturday. The derby is the brainchild of Rich Bodine (Bo-DEEN) to raise money for improvements at Pioneer Park…
The entry fee is 200-dollars per car with 50 dollars due at registration. The field is limited to 42 cars, so registration will be in the form of a lottery. Bodine says he came up with the idea not only to benefit Pioneer Park, but so people could bring out their inner child…
Registration is Saturday from 2 to 5pm at Matteo’s Public in Nevada City. The race will be Saturday June 22.

I must say, he did not come up with this idea.back in the late 60's and early 70's they had this every year at the top of Broad st for kids.. did anyone research that out?Give credit where credit is due.It was as soap box derby and it had to be made with wood, cardboard etc.. it was for kids and I think the Boys Scouts helped put it on.Check it out.
