Soap Box Derby Type Accident Injures 8 Outside Nevada City

Eight people have been injured at a summer camp after a soap box derby-like vehicle overturned. Nevada County Consolidated Battalion Chief Mark Buttron says the incident occurred at Camp Augusta in the 17-thousand block of Lake Vera Purdon Road yesterday.

Two patients were flown by helicopter to trauma centers with what were described as moderate injuries, three were taken by ground ambulance to Sierra Nevada Hospital with minor to moderate injuries. Three others were taken to the hospital by private car with what was described as minor injuries. The accident remains under investigation.
