Attention race enthusiasts. Signups are this weekend for this summer’s Nevada City Soap Box Derby. Drivers and crews will be meeting at Matteo’s on Sunday. Race co-founder and ‘chief instigator’ Rich Bodine says last year’s signup was a lottery…
Bodine wants to cap the race at 42 cars, but after signups, there’s still some technical and safety tests that the cars must pass. This will be the fourth annual event down Nimrod Strreet. Bodine says if you’ve had the same car for the first three years, you need to make some changes…
The entry fee is 200 dollars per car, and once again, you can enter either the art or speed category. The signup party is from 2 to 5pm. The race will be June 21st. Proceeds benefit Nevada City’s Pioneer Park.
