Solo Vehicle Accident Closes 49 Near Shoshoni Trail Late Wednesday

A solo vehicle accident closed highway 49 near Shoshoni Trail just before 11:00 PM Wednesday night. CHP Officer Greg Tassone says the vehicle was moving though a series of S-turns in the area when it lost control.

The vehicle eventually came to rest against a tree. It was determine the driver a 27 year old male was not wearing his seatbelt, but the passenger a 25 year old female was wearing hers.  The driver was transported by ambulance to Sutter Roseville Hospital with moderate to severe injuries.  The passenger twas transported to Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital with minor to moderate injuries. The road was closed for about an hour while emergency crews worked at the scene. The accident remains under investigation. Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor.
