A South County man who once owned and built the world’s fastest motorcycle wants his record back. But, speaking on “KNCO: Insight” recently, Denis Manning says a recent attempt by his rider, in the Australian outback, ended with a crash, after hitting around 365 miles an hour. The current record is 376. Manning’s bike has held the record three times in the past. Manning says speed records have also been broken in the Bonnieville Salt Flats in Utah. But he says longer flat stretches are likely needed, as records continue to be broken with today’s more sophisticated motorcycles. He indicates the Australian outback would be preferable, but would require more financing.
