South Yuba Canal Getting NID Evaluation

It’s considered a vital and critical piece of infrastructure for the Nevada Irrigation District. The District’s Board of Directors has now awarded a consulting contract to evaluate the South Yuba Canal, which runs 19 miles between PG and E’s Lake Spaulding and Deer Creek forebay. The South Yuba Canal is used for delivering domestic and agricultural water to Nevada City and Grass Valley. Roderick says the canal will be broken up into at least 20 segments that have similar characteristics, allowing for analysis and ability to rank the condition of each segment…

Roderick says improving access for maintenance and repair crews will also be looked at. The evaluation is expected to take six to seven months.
