Talk Features “Hell on the Highway” Series

A trip over Donner summit can become  a dangerous ride if the weather turns, and even more dangerous for those who come to the rescue. A National Geographic documentary series gives an inside look at the life and hazards of being a Tow Truck operator on the Interstate.  Chaun Owens-Mortier  worked with the production crew on the series called “Hell On the Highway” and will be the guest speaker at the Nevada County Historical Society’s Speaker Night,  Thursday night.  Donner-summit

Owens-Mortier is also a  Research Historian and President of the Truckee Donner Historical Society, and   will share her stories that center on the History of the Use of Donner Pass from the original route to the creation and use of I-80.

Owens-Mortier will also present a power point  presentation of hazards of travel over Donner Pass. The Nevada County Historical Society Speaker Night is presented free to the public and runs about one hour.  The  event is scheduled for the Madelyn Helling Library Community Room beginning at 7 pm Thursday, February 21.
