Split Verdict After Medical Marijuana Trial

It’s a split verdict for a Nevada County couple in a medical marijuana case. A jury has convicted Nancy and Craig Krekorian of felony charges of possession for sale. The state’s medical marijuana law allows growing plants for personal use, but not for sale. The number of plants was also well over the amount allowed under the county’s ordinance, although they were not being prosecuted for that. But just before the trial, the Krekorians claimed they WERE a collective. However, Newell says the jury was more convinced about statements made just after the arrest. He says the couple also had no records of being a collective. The Krekorians reportedly said, during their initial custody, that they were selling the excess to a Southern California dispensary. Newell says, despite the split decision, he was satisfied with the outcome….

Newell says the sentence range is probation to three years in jail. Sentencing is scheduled for November 11th.
