Squatters Arrested at Property Outside Nevada City

Two people were arrested after Sheriff’s deputies found them squatting in a home and burglarizing surrounding homes. Nevada County Sheriff’s Captain Jeff Pettit says a deputy went to a home on Murchie Mine Road out side Nevada City, Saturday morning. Captain Pettit says 35 year old Heather Hood was found standing next to a car. Hood said she and 31 year old Joshua Packard had been squatting in a vacant home for several days. The deputy took Hood into custody for a warrant for her arrest. The Captain says when the trunk of the car Hood was standing next to was searched,  possible stolen items were found including dishes and computer parts.

Both Hood and Packard was taken into custody for suspicion of burglary receiving stolen property and drug possession charges.
