There were many reasons for the invalid signatures–some were from people who signed more than once, some were not Nevada County residents, and many were not registered voters. The only way the issue can get on the November ballot now, is if Garcia’s group starts the whole process all over again. Garcia says that’s not likely at this point…
The Jefferson committee will meet on Friday to decide their next move. If successful, approval of the measure would mean Nevada County’s support for a separate state that would break away from California.
