State Park Entrances Closed to Vehicles

Vehicle access to the entrance of Nevada County’s three state parks have been closed because of the shelter in place order. Empire Mine, South Yuba River, and Malakoff Diggins, as well as Donner Memorial Park and over fifty others around the state have been closed, along with several state beaches, bringing the total closed to 98. In a news release, officials say the reason for the shutdown is because last weekend, many state parks and beaches received record visitation numbers, which made it impossible for the public to implement appropriate social distancing practices.
