Many opportunities are still available to become a volunteer in the California State Parks in Nevada County. Greg Shurr is the Supervising Ranger in the district which includes South Yuba River State Park at Bridgeport, Malakoff Diggins State Historic Park, and the Empire Mine State Park…He says there will be a recruitment for South Yuba River Park volunteers happening tomorrow morning.
Then from 1 to 3 pm tomorrow, volunteer recruitment will be at Malakoff Diggins State Historic Park where Ryan Randar is the Park Ranger. He says their big events are Humbug Days in June and a Fishing Derby for Kids in April. But they’re also working on a new event that he calls the French Connection.

Randar says Malakoff also has a 30 site campground and they are looking for a volunteer to fill a camp host position. People interested in volunteering can get more information on the website www.parks.ca.gov.
