While the Nevada Joint Union High School District has returned to full-time distance learning this week, due to high coronavirus infection rates, other districts remain status quo, with students still in classrooms anywhere from two to four days a week. But Nevada County’s superintendent of schools, Scott Lay, says that can always change, especially with the seasonal surge continuing…
Lay says districts can stay open for in-person services, unless any school is experiencing numerous COVID cases in multiple cohorts, or if five-percent of staff and students test positive. So far, younger children have not been prone to large outbreaks…
Lay says school districts and charter schools will continue to make all attempts to continue with their current instructional models. But if the case trend continues, they’re asking families to consider and plan for how a resumption of full distance learning or a reduced schedule will impact schedules.
